Well Ill start it.
I know that Joshua Homme uses Ultimate Octaver, but Im looking something different Im not a fan of these buy-pedal-get-XX-features. Here are the songs and sound examples of what I want to achieve. Dont want to get that particular sound. Have my own note to it yet still follow somewhere these lines. In Scumbag Blues you can here it at 0:57 he unleashes it. Very sexy tone for my ears. and this song : P.S. Good to see JPJ back in action. ![]() I got POG2 from my mate which he said is better than POG1 but still it had this silicon type-of sound. I dont know how to explain it - it eats down the fuzz/distortion and all other effects and almost sounds like compressor of some sort. I try to use only analog stuff and when I added it both before and after pedals it still swallowed a great deal of sound. Oh and question: is it true that POG is the only thing in whole marker that tracks chords? Kinda hard to believe tbh. Anyway looking for tips and advices. Thank you. |

POGs have a very synth sort of tone. The lower octave is a little more true note. I can recommend a couple I like which I plan to move towards as I am able. I currently have microPOG and like Satriani had one, I only use it for the lower octave thickening which it tracks very well but the tone is not natural.
Better is the new model EBS Bass Octave pedal, made for a Bass but tracks on a guitar as well and is quite a good pedal. Only like $159 I think. Made to track Bass strings with that massive vibration EBS says it can do guitar as well. My fav and the one I want and recommend is the T-Rex Octavius pedal, around $279 but has both an upper and lower octave plus has a controllable clean boost to drive the effect level home. Has a more natural sound and just superior quality. Best octave pedal I have come across by far. By the way that video sounds like a combination of an octavia unit and a lower octave mix around 1:20 that is an octavia all the way. Fulltone makes a great Octavia pedal (upper octave only) fuzzes up the upper mids not so much a clean octave. Visual Sounds Angry Octave is also right in your direction and low bucks.
